Space System Engineer

Qascom is looking for Space System Engineers to join our Engineering Division within the Space, Defence & Operations Domain.

The successful candidate will contribute to and take responsibility for system engineering activities within Qascom’s Space domain projects.

This includes working across the full system lifecycle, from the design and development to verification and validation of advanced space systems and payloads (such as GNSS-based solutions for LEO, deep space and lunar applications), as well as Qascom’s products related to Navigation, RF Monitoring and Security.

Depending on your experience and interests, you may focus more on system design & architecture activities, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and international partners.

What you’ll work on

  • Defining, allocating, consolidating, maintaining and verifying system and interface requirements, while ensuring traceability and coherence with technical and programmatic constraints;
  • Establishing, consolidating, maintaining and analyzing all system technical budgets (e.g. Link Budget, Power Budget, Data Budget etc.) throughout the project development;
  • Defining, preparing and coordinating verification activities, including defining and executing test procedures and reporting results;
  • Providing reporting and risk identification to system and project managers;
  • Liaising with internal teams to capture and transfer knowledge;
  • Supporting the Head of Domain Area (or Competence Center) and the Sales Department with technical proposals and system architecture definition.

You may also:

  • Being the principal responsible for the system engineering activities involving the development of spaceborne payloads in the frame of national and international programs or projects;
  • Lead trade-offs studies to compare technical solutions and report rationales through formal analyses documents;
  • Conduct requirements reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and negotiate requirement changes with customers, subsystem leads, and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain the Verification Control Document (VCD), mapping each requirement to its verification method (test, analysis, inspection, review).
  • Own and update system-level budgets (mass, power, link margin, data budget), tracking margin consumption against project milestones;
  • Act as a technical reference for system engineering activities

 What do you need

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering (or related field such as Telecommunications)
  • Experience in engineering-related activities at system/subsystem level in spacecraft/payload projects
  • Effective experience in working with and applying ECSS Standards
  • Experience with tools such as Matlab and DOORS (others like GMAT and GitLab are a plus)
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Knowledge of:
    • Orbital mechanics
    • Mission Analysis
    • Space system engineering and development principles
    • (Nice to have) GNSS and Satellite Navigation, RF communication and link budgets, Mechanical and Thermal design, Software Development

Desired Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working with and interfacing Governmental / International Agencies or Institutions
  • Attendance and execution of system/subsystem-level functional and performance test campaigns
  • Exposure to proposal preparation or system architecture definition
